Where are we going? Are you sure this is the way? You said we were going to the place we used to play.
What happened to the water? What happened to the trees? All I see is this old, dusty road, and a bunch of rocks and weeds.
Where are we going? I think we’re lost, along with our innocence, how much did that cost?
I think we should turn around now, or is it getting too late to retrace our steps and reinvent our fate?
Look! Even the birds are leaving and this smog burns my eyes.
Can we please go home now? Will we make it before sunrise?
This painting is a contemplation on our future and what that might look like if we continue down the road we are on now as a consumer culture and a country that is now being guided by immoral principals. Overpopulation, climate change, stresses on our land and resources and a narcissistic generation obsessed with their own self image as it appears to others through social media are just a few topics that lay heavy on my own heart. Some days the only thought that eases my own sadness for our world is that this is a process and somehow a step along the way in a much bigger and broader picture that we are unable to fully comprehend right now. I trust the intelligence in Mother Nature and I trust the Love that is inside of all of us and that IT is a more powerful force than greed and negativity.
