In the upper, right hand corner of the painting, you see the universe giving birth to everything in creation. Her birth waters represent the fundamental life force that holds us suspended in space together, in perfect orbits, patterns and rhythms. The forces of the universe and the natural world are quite extraordinary when you just stop and think about it. During this unresolved pandemic, and increasing divisiveness, it is really easy to get stuck in thoughts, stuck in a worried or negative thought pattern and stuck on media……. What’s going to happen next? The feeling of uncertainty can be exhausting. We sometimes forget, to just stop and look deeply at the many wonders of this world. A simple backyard flower or a dragonfly or sunset could show us the way back to our true, compassionate nature and our inner wisdom. Our inner wisdom is represented here in the painting, as the stone hoodoos, in the center, always present, always strong, one feminine, one masculine, in a supportive balance. We all are already whole and we all have access to the understanding that we are not separate from each other or the world around us. Stop and notice the nature around you, many times through out the day, and bring yourself out of your head and into your tactile body and senses. Everything we need is already here. Practice recognizing that we already have the conditions we need to be happy and delight in our own existence, right here and right now. From this place of centeredness, we will be able to move forward with better clarity and energy for ourselves, family and community.
This painting resembles Upper Stone Creek in Grand Canyon, an incredibly beautiful place where I have seen real magic happen. The inspiration here flows as free as the spring water. This painting was commissioned by a dear sister who knows my heart.
