Once again, the beauty of the Sacred Datura is just aching to be laid down on canvas. I painted this shortly after witnessing (in Marble Canyon) the Sphinx Moths feasting on this delicacy. It seemed to me that the moths became even more excitable, as if intoxicated, as their long proboscises darted in and out of the deep tubular flowers. It is a symbiotic relationship, meaning that both plant and moth benefit from this act. Pretty dang sexy. I love nature.
